Handfeeding instructional videos

Every year I take in quite a few rescues of babies that people have tried to handfeed themselves, and as it turns out it is not quite as easy as it looks in all those other youtube videos and social media posts. Handfeeding is a complicated process when done properly, and proper care must be taken and the proper equipment used. I know that I won’t be able to talk everyone out of trying their hand at handfeeding, so I made these videos to show people the proper way of doing things. If you are looking to start this journey yourself, don’t skimp on anything, get lots of practice and advice, and take things seriously. Once a baby is pulled from the nest, the handfeeder takes upon themselves the responsibility of the babies health, growth and its very life.

These videos talk mainly with the setup and use of a handfeeding station, preparing birds for egg laying and supporting them while nesting, setting up and using brooders, and weaning babies to self feeding and life in the grow up cages. For actual demonstrations of babies being handfed, you can check out the many many baby handfeeding videos in the Birdie Video section. I give commentary while handfeeding each baby and talk about the challenges that could come up with each type of bird.
